Move To Paperless Medical Offices In Alberta Takes Giant Stride

February 10, 2004--Edmonton electronic medical records ("EMR) software developer Jonoke Software Development announced today that the company's industry-leading software has passed Alberta Wellnet's rigorous electronic health records ("EHR") system-to-system conformance testing.

"This is a very significant event," stated Jonoke co-founder and CEO Jody Bevan. "For Jonoke, it means that we are able to offer Alberta medical practitioners a unique set of capabilities. Most importantly, this means our clients will be able to move seamlessly between Jonoke's software and Wellnet's interface with no fuss or bother. When using Jonoke's standard MediFile® interface to prescribe, register patients, or get other doctors' contact information, users will automatically search the Wellnet site for the relevant information."

Bevan noted that MediFile® supports Wellnet's system in other, practical ways as well. "Should the internet go down, cutting off a client from the Wellnet site, MediFile® will batch and save all user requests. As soon as the Wellnet link is back up, MediFile® will automatically process all batched requests – providing tremendous peace of mind for physicians worried about the reliability of internet-based medical information systems."

Bevan also noted that MediFile® will load new patient information from the provincial system overnight. For Alberta doctors, this means that a patient arriving the next day will have all his/her Rx, allergy, and demographic information loaded onto MediFile®, with no intervention necessary. "All of these are great time savers, and will contribute to enhanced patient care," Bevan concluded.

Jonoke and Alberta Wellnet are now working actively to plan implementation of the integrated version of their application in early 2004.

As the first software to pass this level of Alberta Wellnet conformance testing, Alberta users of Jonoke's cross-platform solution will be eligible for provincial EHR funding as of April 1, 2004.
