I liked how much more efficient and flexible this EHR was compared to the one we used previously. Scheduling patients felt simple and the patient portal helped bring communication with practitioners into one place. Customer support was also quick and effective which really mattered since the system rollout was new across the whole company. The AI features integrated into the workflow were genuinely helpful and the platform was simple to learn and tailor to our specific needs. Patient management ran much smoother than our former system and having Zoom built in for virtual visits was a nice bonus.

Our group scheduling sometimes didn't run as smoothly as we'd hoped which could complicate billing for those sessions. Even so, there was always a workaround-we just occasionally had to get a bit more creative to make everything work for our team.
Pros ![]()
Customer service was really quick to respond when I ran into issues and they helped me troubleshoot without dragging things out. On top of that, scheduling was simple to handle and didn't feel like a hassle.

After creating an account, I couldn't unsubscribe from marketing emails which became a problem fast. My inbox ended up getting flooded with spam messages.
Pros ![]()
It's pretty solid since there's a lot you can do directly from the program without jumping through too many hoops. The built-in options make it feel fairly capable on its own.
Cons ![]()
The catch is that pretty much everything else comes with a price tag and the support quality hasn't been that great.
Pros ![]()
You can tailor the notes into a SOAP format which is handy for keeping documentation consistent.

Prescribing is a nightmare…. if you need to prescribe controlled substances, this isn't the right program.
Pros ![]()
The EHR and PM (billing module) are genuinely well designed and reliable-they do what they're supposed to and they're efficient to use. The patient portal is also packed with useful functionality: scheduling appointments making payments, viewing the medications that were sent along with the pharmacy they went to, plus creating and submitting forms. Overall, the EHR + PM feel strong and capable even if they're on the pricey side and you generally get what you pay for.

The eRx workflow is where things get frustrating and inefficient. Retrying prescriptions takes too many steps-for instance, resending four medications requires selecting each one, clicking "Resend," then sending them one-by-one. There's also a difficult workaround flow where you save items to the main console, reselect them and send again. For three CII meds, the process gets even more involved: you have to rebuild one Rx, duplicate it, save it to the console, reselect and then send. AMD's use of DrFirst EPCS adds more friction too-you're forced to select each scheduled medication individually, then within EPCS you select each one again, enter your password and enter a rolled 6-digit code from Symantec VIP instead of just tapping/selecting an ID.me option that appears on your phone. After the most recent update, AMD removed a "Quick Resend" feature, meaning what used to take one click now requires clicking each Rx to resend at least twice. The AMD team has indicated they won't bring that feature back despite negative feedback submitted through their "Suggestions"/feedback box. If you're considering AMD, I'd strongly recommend having your salesperson walk you through the eRx process in detail before signing so you're fully aware of the inefficiency and the lack of responsiveness to user complaints.

Being able to document for an Ambulatory Surgical Center is genuinely useful and I like how customizable components can be tailored to fit different needs. The flexibility with custom parts makes the notes feel more adaptable instead of one-size-fits-all.
Cons ![]()
You basically have to type everything in…. there's no getting around filling out tons of boxes just to finish a single note. It turns note creation into a pretty time-consuming process.

AdvancedMD software is extremely flexible, and its feature plans are ideal for reducing medical software expenditures in our offices by up to 30%. The tech support team is fantastic, as they assisted us in quickly getting the system up and running. The hands-on, extended setup support provided by AdvancedMD has aided our practice in efficiently adjusting to their new software. Access to patient profiles, histories, and reports is made simple by the program. We saved a lot of time by not having to look for the information ourselves. The program is a terrific tool that has increased the efficiency of our firm significantly.
Cons ![]()
Although the program provides several wonderful features and functionality to help our practice's efficiency, there are a few small annoyances that the manufacturer could address. To begin with, certain of the software capabilities of AdvancedMD that are common with other medical software systems are not included. Second, as more capabilities are added, the AdvancedMD interface has become more difficult to understand and utilize, which is really aggravating.
Pros ![]()
It does a decent job of staying compliant and keeping patient records organized.
Cons ![]()
Customer support feels terrible and the whole tool doesn't feel simple to use. Getting reports out is genuinely difficult, the patient portal is pretty bad and the integration options-including the API-aren't great when you try to connect with other software.
Pros ![]()
The interface feels simple and it's simple to create or update documentation as things change. Editing is quick and the workflow stays organized even when I'm making frequent revisions.
Cons ![]()
System upgrades don't seem to cause much trouble-there are only minor disruptions so day-to-day work keeps moving without annoying interruptions.
Pros ![]()
AMD's practice management system is simple to use. I've been working with it since 2014 and training users has never felt like a struggle. The AMD district manager is also highly knowledgeable and stays available whenever I need help.
Cons ![]()
Pricing for optometrist practices isn't affordable. That's the only downside I've been dealing with with my clients.
