Pros ![]()
In my experience, Athena includes virtually every feature a private-practice EMR could need, offering built-in tools for generating reports as well as the ability to design custom reports, provides care-management capabilities and easily connects with third-party vendors.
Cons ![]()
When I run into an issue or require assistance with any of Athena's capabilities, I'm required to open a support case with their Customer Support Center (CSC) which in my experience is far from useful, simple inquiries that should take minutes often drag on for 10 to 30 minutes and sometimes remain unresolved, necessitating escalation to internal teams and a follow-up timeframe of seven to ten days and adding to the frustration is that the CSC staff are predominantly hired overseas so their English is frequently poor and often makes comprehension difficult, leaving me unable to clearly understand what they are trying to convey.
Pros ![]()
Using this doctor-office-based system, I really appreciate how interactive it is and I especially value being able to revisit and read the physician's notes, print any doctor's excuses I require, scrutinize my invoices and settle all of my payments from within a single, unified platform.
Cons ![]()
I like virtually every aspect of AthenaOne, finding it excellent in every way and would strongly request that nothing be altered so please maintain the current setup exactly as it is.
Pros ![]()
I regularly experience significant performance problems with the system every week and upon startup it often indicates that certain functions are not operating correctly which undermines overall reliability.
Cons ![]()
In my practice I come across far too many bugs that require fixing and almost every week we face substantial slowness and multiple features that cease to work as expected, disrupting our workflow.
Pros ![]()
The system's appointment-booking features and overall user interface feel exceptionally well-crafted and I truly value how the iterative enhancements enhance efficiency while making it remarkably quick and simple for clients to make bookings through the online platform and the customer support that accompanies the service has been excellent.
Cons ![]()
I have found that sporadic bugs and complications stemming from website updates can become quite burdensome and on several occasions I experienced prolonged waits before those defects were addressed and fully resolved which sometimes slowed my workflow.
Pros ![]()
I find the practice management software to be solid overall while it lacks the flashy, polished appearance of many competing applications, I believe that modest interface likely contributes to faster operation on lower-bandwidth internet connections.
Cons ![]()
In my experience the billing processes have been dreadful: they put claims on hold, fail to pursue outstanding claims and then simply claim it's not their obligation to resolve them. moreover, they routinely fail to forward correspondence from Medicare auditors and recovery agencies that are sent to the Athena billing address in Maine so I keep come across ing the same issue repeatedly.
Pros ![]()
As a customer, I value the overall convenience offered to users, the attractive visual design of the interface, how simplely it is laid out and the rapidity with which I can locate the specific information I need, among other positive aspects.
Cons ![]()
I couldn't find any real drawbacks, perhaps that is because I did not use the product extensively enough to uncover any shortcomings but from my experience everything functioned smoothly and met my expectations.
Pros ![]()
From my experience, AthenaOne serves as an incredibly convenient electronic medical records system that organizes tracking patient details, arranging appointments, handling diagnostic and procedural coding and managing insurance billing and claims while providing a user-friendly interface complemented by responsive customer support and powerful security features.
Cons ![]()
I have noticed that the platform occasionally requires periodic upgrades or system reboots to ensure it receives the latest software updates and to guard against bugs and other operational issues which can interrupt workflow if not scheduled properly.
Pros ![]()
The simplicity of integrating and rolling out the system really impressed me because the EHR, billing, scheduling and patient portal are all interconnected, I'm not stuck juggling multiple logins.
Cons ![]()
I find the fee structure confusing and progressively punishing because as my practice's revenue increases the platform's cut seems to grow as well which is hardly ideal for smaller clinics like mine.
Pros ![]()
I genuinely appreciate Athena, I find it easy to access billing and messages and being able to converse with providers within the platform is convenient, while the app also offers numerous useful features that enhance my experience.
Cons ![]()
For the most part I'm happy with Athena, however, what bothers me is the fact that other clinicians without access are unable to view results, billing records or related information which can be quite disruptive especially since the system hasn't been adopted universally yet.
Pros ![]()
Terrible experience, the person at the front desk who recorded my details at the Village Medical office in Scottsdale, AZ on the support team visit and again at the Linda location behaved in an entirely unprofessional manner and the back-office staff there were no better, exhibiting comparable incompetence and discourtesy. When I pointed out that they had entered my insurance card incorrectly, they flat-out refused to amend the error and instead insisted that I resolve the problem directly with my insurer, Medicare despite the mistake originating with their team. Consequently, the name appearing on my billing address, the listed guarantor and the individual identified on the invoice were all someone else.
Cons ![]()
I contacted corporate billing, spoke with the local billing office and even visited the neighborhood clinic that had originally entered my billing and insurance details incorrectly, yet each department pointed the finger at the others instead of fixing the problem: corporate billing directed me to the local billing team, local billing told me to reach corporate and the clinic where I received care claimed it did not maintain a billing department at all. As a result of this circular blame-shifting and the complete lack of accountability, I am extremely frustrated and feel horribly mistreated by the front desk and back-office personnel.
