Pros thumbs-up

Having access to other EMR systems via Epic, which also automatically capitalizes the first word of sentences.

Cons thumbs-up

I have a minor issue with .HM phrases as they sometimes display the resulted date instead of the completion date. However, a major concern arose when my user account was inexplicably disabled after my lunch break. Despite an initial password expiration warning, this sudden account deactivation was highly inconvenient for an active physician like me, as it happened during an annual exam.

Pros thumbs-up

I've had a very positive experience with Epic. I particularly appreciate the mobility offered by the app. It would be great to see improvements and expansion in the Rover system since home health is a vital part of healthcare, and many clinicians require access to Epic while out in the field.

Cons thumbs-up

Occasionally, using Epic on the office computer can be overwhelming due to the numerous pages that need to be navigated.

Pros thumbs-up

I appreciate the app's mobility. However, I hope they enhance and expand the river system. Home health plays a significant role in healthcare, and many field clinicians rely on Epic for access.

Cons thumbs-up

I sometimes find using Epic on the office computer daunting due to the extensive number of pages that need to be navigated.

Medical Practice

Pros thumbs-up

The only aspect of Epic that I appreciate is the ability to prioritize the schedule by time or patient name.

Cons thumbs-up

Epic has become aggravating to use, especially for front desk scheduling, following a recent upgrade that seems senseless. It's now more difficult to work with, and the introduction of bookit as a term feels unprofessional. Errors are causing users to get stuck on pages, and the new system is making tasks more complicated. Additionally, there have been issues with insurance information and data transfer to Caretracker.

Pros thumbs-up

The sole feature I find appealing in Epic is the ability to prioritize the schedule by time or patient name.

Cons thumbs-up

The developers of these programs should experience the software themselves for several weeks to understand its usability. It's easy to become stuck on a page due to unfixable errors, and the new "bookit" feature complicates matters. Insurance information can become muddled, and data transmission to Caretracker is unreliable.

Pros thumbs-up

This software is user-friendly and reliable for nurse charting. Locating and submitting documentation is a breeze.

Cons thumbs-up

There is an excess of charting options, each with numerous answer choices. Streamlining these options to the most common ones and introducing a comment area for non-predefined answers could enhance efficiency.

Pros thumbs-up

Epic's primary advantage lies in its widespread adoption across health systems, enabling cross-communication. On the flip side, Epic's modularity limits inter-institutional communication. The main benefit of Epic remains its prevalence in the healthcare industry.

Cons thumbs-up

Epic's primary design is not centered around patient care but is primarily a billing software. The software's evolution over the years has focused on catering to administrators, resulting in recent updates that hide buttons and options under tabs, making navigation more challenging. The interface could be significantly improved, similar to modern iOS interfaces. Epic's philosophy of being infallible hinders its progress, and alternatives are needed for both patients and providers.
