Pros thumbs-up

While I encountered some staff who were very friendly, others were difficult and it felt like a real bother.

Cons thumbs-up

They wanted me to pay a large sum to retrieve my own data when I tried switching, which I found unacceptable because of the cost.

Pros thumbs-up

Customer service really st ands out to me; I appreciate that I can scan documents straight into the patient EMR and that the system lets me create and print deposit slips without fuss, while the text reminder/patient communication package was straightforward to set up, the end-of-day workflow is efficient and I like how the schedule looks and can be personalized.

Cons thumbs-up

I find the reporting setup overwhelming because there are so many variable options to choose from when running reports, which makes it harder than it needs to be; additionally, the software doesn't play nicely with a lot of other platforms, leaving very few choices for a POS company, online scheduling tools, or clearinghouses and that lack of integrations is a real limitation for my practice. The patient registration layout feels clunky and disjointed , for example, date of birth sits on one screen while insurance details are scattered across a couple of different pages, so when I'm talking with insurers I end up flipping back and forth constantly. Another big drawback is that it's not cloud-based: the program has to be installed on a specific PC, which means I can't check the schedule or do work from a laptop or tablet unless that machine has the software installed. On top of that, costs add up quickly because anything outside the normal daily functions becomes an extra monthly charge; the base price is somewhat higher and you keep tacking on fees for additional services, including an $85 monthly fee for an extra doctor, whereas most competitors include at least two providers in their st andard plans.

Pros thumbs-up

I've found it comes packed with a ton of features and the company itself has been around for a long time, which gives me some confidence in its longevity.

Cons thumbs-up

Using it has been frustrating because it's not user-friendly and overall quite complex to navigate and the ledger module in particular feels like something out of a DOS-era application rather than a modern interface, which makes everyday tasks slower. I also haven't found any appealing package options and the price feels disconnected from the value offered, since it ends up being very costly for what you actually get, while support, although present, moves at a glacial pace because of how intricate the system is and they refuse to issue refunds. Setting it up required a substantial upfront financial commitment to implementation, training and configuration and there is a large amount of manual work involved to get everything running. If I wanted to cancel, I would need to mail a physical letter , email isn't accepted and even after they receive it they process the termination in such a way that I would still be billed for another thirty days for a product I wasn't using. The company has existed for a long time, but honestly they've turned the product into something much more technical and convoluted than I expected.

Pros thumbs-up

There are many wonderful EHRs out there, but we needed one that could cover different practices simultaneously and that's where PracticeStudio shines. In my experience, it has been the only EHR solution that could practically manage a multidisciplinary medical center like ours. It not only handles our billing perfectly but also offers safe data storage. It has helped us manage our records and crucial information so that we can focus on treating our patients effectively.

Cons thumbs-up

Reports that are stored in databases often don't open up and the functions are rendered unresponsive for no apparent reason. Given the sheer number of features, it is very hard to organize the dashboard and mine looks like a mess, even after months of fine-tuning. In such cases, it has the only customer service that has the audacity of declining your requests. Oddly, I have had very mixed experiences with their support staff.

Pros thumbs-up

I love that I can modify the scheduling functions without relying on their technical support team. The scheduling process is so easy that even if we see a 10-20% increase of walk-in clients in a day, they can all be accommodated easily. It has one of the smoothest billing experiences and I appreciate that the codes can be modified to automatically include modifiers. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.

Cons thumbs-up

Everything is so great with this software that it's actually surprising how bad the navigation is. It's in no way a deal breaker, but just something that annoys me. Features are hidden behind extra buttons which have no useful functions, in my opinion. Completing work on one screen requires you to hit "Next" in order to proceed, which is an added step as well. They make up for these issues by providing helpful videos, which does make the process less irritating.

Pros thumbs-up

We run operations across more than one location and I find switching between sites remarkably straightforward, which makes it simple to h andle scheduling, write patient notes, generate reports and connect with third-party tools like text-messaging systems, plus the training videos are solid.

Cons thumbs-up

I work with many clinicians who each perform very different roles and I find this system isn't particularly accommodating or intuitive when it comes to managing that level of provider diversity.

Pros thumbs-up

From my experience, PracticeStudio is among the rare EHR platforms capable of supporting a multi-disciplinary healthcare practice like ours and I find that it h andles the varied needs across disciplines fairly well; it provides billing functionality and the ability to store medical records, along with documents and other essential treatment-related materials.

Cons thumbs-up

I have found that many of the features are not intuitive and the database reporting tools frequently fail to function properly; keeping everything organized becomes a real challenge because of the sheer number and complexity of its capabilities and on top of that I often walk away from interactions with customer support feeling frustrated since the team can come across as rude and dismissive of our concerns.

Pros thumbs-up

What I found remotely positive about this program and it's really the only thing, was that I could legitimately indicate that our practice was operating electronically.

Cons thumbs-up

Frankly, I consider this a poor illustration of a genuinely usable EMR, since it requires me to enter large amounts of text rather than providing a menu-driven interface, which then makes it easy for human typing mistakes to creep in and the customer support has been inadequate.

Pros thumbs-up

What I like most about this system is how nearly everything can be tailored to our needs, which gives us a lot of control; plus, the team actually listens to client feedback and we've watched several of our suggestions be incorporated into updates to the software over time.

Cons thumbs-up

There's a huge amount of granular detail in the system and from our experience you truly pay for that level of depth; as the priciest solution we've ever used to manage our practice, we sometimes find that for a small business it's necessary to pick a simpler, more affordable package rather than splurging on every flashy feature.
