Pros thumbs-up

Honestly, there wasn't much to praise. The only somewhat positive thing was that they offered faxing with a small page limit but we still dealt with fax failures every single day. On top of that, staff said support was lacking whenever the system went down.

Cons thumbs-up

Too often, the product simply didn't work. The contract terms are also unreasonable. They give you a very narrow cancellation window and if you miss it by even 18 days, they still lock you into paying for another full year.

Pros thumbs-up

On the occasions it actually functions, it does the job reasonably well but those times are far too inconsistent and getting any response from customer support is difficult.

Cons thumbs-up

Trying to get help from customer service is incredibly frustrating. You can't just call and speak to a real person right away when something goes wrong. Instead, you have to arrange a Zoom meeting and if you're busy handling actual office issues at that scheduled time, you end up having to restart the whole process. Meanwhile, items that need to be added to patient charts just sit in the inbox not working. The contract terms are another major issue. Renewals happen automatically with no real way out and they won't let you buy out the agreement either. We're stuck paying around $600 a month for a service we no longer want and they're forcing us to keep paying for another seven months. It's extremely aggravating. The pricing was attractive when we first signed on but later they raised it by 500% which was outrageous. On top of that their outages seem to happen regularly and when the system goes down, it practically shuts our office down completely.

Pros thumbs-up

The electronic fax service and the patient portal are the parts that work best.

Cons thumbs-up

Service fees keep going up, the platform is unreliable with frequent downtime, creating online documents is frustrating and the EHR integration feels outdated.

Pros thumbs-up

It helps us get in touch with patients faster which makes communication more efficient.

Cons thumbs-up

Leadership and customer service have been disappointing and we were not clearly told about the fine print that locks you into the contract if you do not notify them about changes at least 60 days before it ends.

Pros thumbs-up

The Forms features are the part I value most in this product although you can find similar functionality from other providers at a much lower cost.

Cons thumbs-up

Customer service hasn't been very good. When I tried to cancel the subscription, they refused unless I had given more than 60 days notice.

Pros thumbs-up

Connection with Practice Fusion works really well! Updox gives us a queue for text messages and faxes so everything is organized and can be handled as it comes in. It's been a solid communication tool for scheduling and for staying in touch with patients quickly and efficiently.

Cons thumbs-up

There's still some manual effort needed to manage the queue but realistically there isn't any magic solution that makes all of that happen automatically.

Pros thumbs-up

One thing that works well is the tight integration with our EMR which makes uploading documents to patient charts pretty quick.

Cons thumbs-up

For 2024, it's frustrating that every fax gets turned into a PDF but the text still isn't searchable. There should also be a way to create rules that route certain senders or cover sheets to specific queues. On top of that, it often feels sluggish or slow without any clear reason.

Pros thumbs-up

Being able to work from anywhere and still get everything done has been a huge benefit. I can stay in touch with patients at any time of day which makes my job a lot more flexible. The messaging feature is definitely one of my favorite parts.

Cons thumbs-up

The telehealth feature hasn't always been consistent so we've had to rely on another platform for that as well.

Pros thumbs-up

Nothing at all. There's really no other way to put it. I can't say anything positive about a company that shows zero appreciation for its customers.

Cons thumbs-up

Customer service is awful. There's no respect for the customer's time and dealing with this company has been extremely frustrating. Honestly, it feels like only a matter of time before they end up facing a class action lawsuit.

Pros thumbs-up

Using Updox has been very easy and being able to send faxes with HIPAA compliant security is a big plus.

Cons thumbs-up

Biggest limitation is that the texting feature doesn't allow enough characters.
